“We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.” Psalm 33:20
A few weeks ago, I decided to go to a different Sunday service. What I didn’t know was, God had already planned it as something special for me. The first chapter they read that day was one which is really significant to me. The rest of the service was about identity and how much God loves and pursues us.
It touched my heart so much to see, after all this time, God still goes after the one, and I (you) am still the one. It doesn’t matter what’s going on in my life, it doesn’t matter if I’m slipping or feel like I’m falling, God still values me the same. He sees us through the lens of Jesus (Romans 8:29).
There are no spots or blemishes , just complete love(Ephesians 5:27).
It reminded me of the story in Matthew 18, “What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? 13 And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. 14 In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.”
I knew I needed to share this message with you guys because it’s so easy to feel forgotten. It’s so tempting to allow the feeling of ‘wandering in the wilderness’ to become a lifestyle of jaded, disheartened apathy. I don’t want that for myself and I don’t want that for you!
I know how hard it is feeling like you’re walking around in circles. I often feel this way– especially in business. It often feels like there aren’t enough views, I’m not posting consistently enough or there’s just something there to keep you in the same rut. It’s like the picture of a person who’s just walking in a circle and the hole gets bigger and bigger and bigger. Thing is, that’s not us! We’re making progress. Progress is progress no matter how small it may seem. Also, our value to God doesn’t dissipate with the difficulties.
I’ve been listening to a song by LeCrae ft. Tori Kelly called ‘I’ll Find You‘. In it, LeCrae says, “They say fear haunts and pain hates. I say pain strengthens, and fear drives faith.” I think God pulls us closer in seasons of difficulty. I believe he’s always close. As I’ve said many times, our struggle isn’t a sign of condemnation, but it is hard! When it’s hard, it’s so easy to think, Why would God even care about me anymore? That’s why these things are so important: God still goes after the one (me) even in the midst of our greatest challenges and weakness.
So, in light of all this rambling, I wanted to share that God sees YOU. He knows YOU. He loves YOU. I hope today you will feel pursued and loved. In the midst of whatever you’re facing (and all the cheesiness in this post), I pray you find the strength in pain and the hope in perseverance– the faith though the fear is real.
You are loved. You are valued.
